Here are a few tips to help talk to parents about using monitoring software in the classroom.

Monitoring software to promote online safety.

The move to online work brings countless benefits but there are important considerations to be made concerning the safety of your child online.

Senso’s Keyword libraries that are updated regularly which look for keywords relating to online gaming, gambling, pornography, self-harm, grooming, radicalisation, wepons and many more, these are all areas your child could be exposed to online.

In many other countries monitoring software on school devices is a legal requirement.


Potential concerns

Can my child be monitored or contacted at home?

There are lots of different configurations available that mean teachers can't log in out of school hours or from home

also Senso switched off screen viewing whilst outside of your schools' IP address.

The blocks on certain websites can still remain in place though, to limit missuse of the school devices

What personal information does Senso Log?

The only thing that could openly identify the students activity is if the device name is the same as the students. The information logged pertains to the activity on the device.

Is this Software legal to use? Is it GDPR compliant?

As long as there is a justification for using Senso. Most schools have urgently needed something to prevent gaming during lessons, to ensure no cheating occurs during online exams and to ensure school equipment isn't missused.
